About
Edina Széles is a textile artist and designer based in the Shetland Islands Scotland. She has exhibited and participated residences both nationally and internationally.
Her work inspired by the environment both natural and built and its combination with its material culture contemporary and historical. In her processes, she experiments with a variety of media and techniques from drawing, painting and sculpture.
Her practice primarily is concerned with constructed textiles and traditional textile techniques such as weaving, hand spinning and dyeing. She researches traditional textiles techniques and their heritage and incorporates these within her contemporary artwork.
Széles is a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Contemporary Textiles and BA (Hons) Fine Art course at Shetland College, and Program Leader of the NC Portfolio Course.
Széles graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest with a Masters of Arts in Textile Design and in Teaching of Design and Visual Communication.
